chat/finch - The NetBSD Packages Collection

Multi-protocol console instant messaging client

Finch is a command line instant messaging program for Windows, Linux,
BSD, and other Unixes. You can talk to your friends using Jabber/XMPP,
Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime,
SILC, SIMPLE, and Zephyr.

Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
