Goofey is a program which provides many services by communicating with a central server Pluto. Services provided by goofey include remote user location, message sending, fortune provision, jargon file lookup and a timetable service. Goofey is the preferred mode of communciation of many people, as it combines the immediacy of talk(1) and the asynchronous nature of mail(1). That is, you will know if messages sent with goofey have been received by the recipient almost immediately. Goofey also provides facilities for users to supply finger type information, an 'away' message for when you are away, a 'quiet' message for when you are busy or away from the terminal. In fact, just about everything that people have been able to put up a good case for is included in the server.

Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
Please note the vulnerabilities database might not be fully accurate, and not every bug is exploitable with every configuration.
Problem reports, updates or suggestions for this package should be reported with send-pr.
