A start for a more detailed data-structure to keep knowledge about various data types are defined by MIME. Some basic treatments with mime types are implemented. The first special data item is whether a data type is binary or ascii. This is required for correctly encoding e-mail attachments, and implemented for the Mail::Box v2.01 module.
Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
